Vikenti Komitski x Sold Out Design Gallery

Same As It Never Was
2026

A work where form and content become inseparable. Vikenti Komitski engages directly with the theme of Border by inhabiting the threshold between past and present, craft and industry. The hand-shaped clay vessels, interrupted by metal and chain elements, stage a tension between the handmade and the industrially produced.

At the same time, the vessel itself becomes a border form defining inside and outside, containment and exchange. Rather than a fixed limit, the work presents the border as a site of overlap, where materials, histories, and meanings intersect.

“The Containers evoke modern cargo storage, but here they refer to one of the oldest human crafts: shaping clay by hand, before the invention of the potter’s wheel. Within the vessels, chains and metal details evoke modernism, highlighting the tension between craftsmanship and mass production, the handmade pitted against the industrially reproduced. The pots are Jungian archetypes— “a priori forms” that shape how we think, feel, and act. Like letters of an alphabet, they compose a formal grammar whose irregular contours echo the diversity of human faces and bodies. A practice that begins with the base elements of matter, in its most ancient composition. This marks Komitski’s first foray into this timeless technique, an experiment in dialogue with tradition.” (Tiziano Tancredi)
