Lake Como Design Festival presents Confini instabili. Macchine narrative per raccontare la montagna in movimento (Unstable Borders: Narrative machines to tell the story of a mountain in motion) with an exhibition within the spaces of Politecnico di Milano - Polo di Lecco. Developed as part of the AMALPI MORE research project, which focuses on landslides and the transformation processes of the alpine landscape, this showcase introduces the first element of a series of narrative devices designed to engage the public with the topic of landslides and land fragility. The installation, originally conceived for the former Church of the Convento dei Cappuccini in Chiavenna—now home to the Amalpi Center—invites visitors to explore the mountain as a living organism shaped by movements that are often invisible yet constant.
Through models, images, and data in transformation, the device creates an immersive experience that makes the dynamics of landslides perceptible, bringing scientific knowledge into dialogue with storytelling. It is a first step towards a system of mobile installations designed to communicate, in an accessible and sensitive way, the instability of mountainous territories. Curated by Cristiana Achille, Tiziana Apuani, Daniele F. Bignami, Francesco Calvetti, Corrado Camera, and Massimo Ceriani, with an exhibition design by Lola Ottolini, Lucia Emma Avolio, and Matteo Andreoletti.
