A fragment is both a witness to what has been and a sign of change, transformation and rebirth. Como, like and perhaps more than many European cities, has grown from layers of life, each deepening and reshaping the next across the centuries. Works of art and shards of memory, scattered and altered, have not vanished; instead, they have learned to speak anew, at times imposing their voice upon the very place that now holds them.

Within an Antica Nevera, itself a fragment of a vanished time, Virginia Guiotto’s photographic tale unfolds curated by Massimiliano Mondelli and Paolo Vanoli. It celebrates a motion without end, where fragments, stilled yet alive, go on asking us - unceasingly - about the meaning of our brief passage on this earth.
