What happens if we stop perceiving the border as a barrier and start viewing it as a point of contact? Derived from the Latin con-finis, the word "border" does not divide, but rather unites: it indicates a shared boundary, the exact point where my end meets yours. Nomade presents Fine Comune (Shared Border/Common End), an exhibition exploring the concepts of limits and sharing, developed under the creative direction of Ultrapresent Studio. The Project Hosted inside the former Church of Santa Caterina, the installation draws inspiration from the suspended spaces that certain nomadic cultures create to make any site welcoming, reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens.
Fine Comune explores the emotions that can arise within this thin strip—a transitory space that transforms into a temporary meeting place. In the small side aisle, visitors encounter a selection of monochromatic artworks in concrete and metal by artist Luca Monterastelli, in collaboration with Galleria Lia Rumma. The experience unfolds beyond the vaulted arch, where a soft floor layer and a central collective seating arrangement define the environment through their striking impact and color palette.
This area welcomes anyone wishing to exchange glances, shake hands, and listen to the vibrations released by the soulful objects temporarily dwelling along the perimeter of the church. In this zone, where the Free System modular seating by Acerbis invites conviviality, collectible design objects by Movimento Gallery and handcrafted rugs by cc-tapis are showcased. It is the art and design elements placed within the two areas that infuse the environment with a breath of emotion, bringing a whispered sacredness into the 17th-century building: they guide a space traditionally born as sacred and vertical toward an earthly, horizontal, and human dimension.
