Oltre al Vedere (Beyond Seeing) is a project conceived by Cultura Meccanica® for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, in collaboration with the Italian National Association for the Visually Impaired (Associazione Nazionale Subvedenti). Its aim is to make art and design accessible to people who are blind or partially sighted. Through innovative audio-tactile devices and guided sensory experiences, the project transforms what is traditionally perceived only through sight into an inclusive, multisensory experience, engaging all visitors while promoting a new culture of accessibility.
Eclisse, Vico Magistretti, 1965
After the realization, in 2024, of the first multi-sensory audio-tactile board dedicated to the preparatory cartoon of the Scuola di Atene by Raffaello - today accessible at Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan - the project continues its journey of research applied to cultural heritage and design. On the occasion of Lake Como Design Festival, the sensory version of the famous Eclisse lamp by Vico Magistretti, developed within the context of Oltre al Vedere, will be presented to the public. This experience will allow people to explore the object through touch and sound, turning the perception on light into an accessible language enjoyable for anyone.
