Thomas Kurer (CH)

Capriccio

Landscape
The object is composed of 8 panels that form a continuous surface where hand-carving techniques overlap and dynamically intersect. The object enhances the memory of the eternal connection between man and nature and invites a calm dialogue.
The theme of fragments is transversal. It can develop in different directions: fragments of nature, memory, form, and function. Each piece is a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and the world of imagination, between technical precision and the poetry of natural perfection and the "wildness" of the material.

LCDF thanks independent curator Anastasiia Biletska, for her collaboration

Thomas Kurer started by learning the craft of a cabinetmaker. This was followed by further studies in design and technology. An interest in and openness to new things, even beyond the craft, as well as the joy and love for detail, formed the basis for his more than 20 years of work as an independent furniture designer and maker.
Today, his furniture and art objects are the focus of his work. However, he still collaborates with clients to find solutions for their individual wishes.
