Between Broken and Whole
"Through this project, we offer a way to meditate on the beauty of imperfection and the power of creating wholeness from fragments. We invite people to rethink the relationship between what is broken and what is whole and to appreciate the wisdom contained in the materials themselves."
Studio Zing's design entrusts materials with the power to influence and shape the creative process, relying on the unexpected to lead to meaningful and powerful results.
The project revolves around a series of ceramic vessels, created inside plaster moulds, using paper as a temporary barrier between the layers. During the process, the containers naturally break into fragments, which are then reassembled into new shapes. The reassembly is not intended to hide the fractures or erase the traces of separation; on the contrary, it highlights them, making these fractures an integral part of each container's identity. The materials -chalk, paper and clay- are interwoven in a continuous dialogue. The paper leaves its imprint on the ceramic, influencing both texture and form, so that each container carries with it the memory of its creation process. The resulting vessels resemble archaeological finds, as if they had been unearthed from ancient times, but possess a contemporary and unknown aesthetic. The work is not just about the physical reassembly of parts; it is a reflection on how meaning emerges from fragmentation and reconnection, giving each piece a history of renewal and transformation.

ZING Studio is an innovative product design studio specializing in ceramics and material exploration. As industrial designers and graduates of the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), they create through a design philosophy in which the material is not just a medium, but an active partner in the creative process. This approach allows the material to influence both the development and the final result, creating objects that embrace experimentation, imperfection, and transformation. In addition to ceramics, they explore sustainable materials such as recycled plastic, paper, and organic materials, continuously expanding the possibilities of design.
