Set of plates and bowl in majolica ceramic
Sulla soglia del sonno
2026
Rosanna Staus creates a collection of unique, handmade, hand-painted faience plates that metaphorically engage with the theme of Border through depictions of moments on the threshold of sleep. Rich in intricate detail, the paintings raise the question: where does the dream begin, and where does waking reality end? Suspended in this liminal state, the figures inhabit a space that is neither fully conscious nor entirely unconscious, a fragile boundary where perception, memory, and imagination begin to blur.
The collection reflects on the permeability of such borders, suggesting that they are not fixed lines but shifting, porous zones.
