Tempesta Bench
Telling the stories hidden behind the production process of an object has become the focus of their work. The aim is to enhance its evocative power and dialogue with the human being, generating well-being through sensory surfaces capable of stimulating touch, sight and smell with an aesthetic that is both brutal and refined.
Thanks to an ever-expanding experience with reclaimed wood, the collection has also expanded. The cherry wood bench of the Tempesta series was born from the cutting of a trunk felled by one of the frequent storms in the area. From this gesture, a network of wood collection and seasoning arose, in collaboration with experienced craftsmen. The shape, studied in detail, enhances the authentic beauty of the material.
Direct sourcing is at the heart of the project: part of research into short supply chains and slow, primitive design. An approach that has made it possible to reduce environmental impact and create charismatic objects, endowed with a sensorial “soft power”.
This experimental and independent work takes the form of a form of activism. Objects and materials are born from a process involving the five elements - earth, water, fire, air, ether - and addressing the most primordial dimension of the human being.
The Tempesta bench is part of an investigation into the complete use of urban wood. Designed for visionaries and nature lovers, it invites the integration of the poetic power of natural materials into everyday spaces, honouring the relationship between the tree, the earth, the sun and the sky.
Monostudio advocates a slow and deliberately primitive approach to design, deeply connected to human nature and well-being.
Based in Milan, it is a studio specialising in interior architecture and product design. It believes in slowing down the design process, enhancing wild and local materials and respecting their natural imperfections. The studio's work is rooted in nature and the context in which each project takes shape. The portfolio ranges from small to large scale projects, including residences, hotel renovations and a collection of furniture made from local waste wood. Monostudio experiments with ash-glazed tiles, wild clays as wall finishes and a collection of tiles created from unusual materials such as marble, eggshells and coffee grounds. Through Monoferments, an in-house laboratory for empirical experimentation, it promotes a new vision of slow living: spaces and tools for living with environmental awareness, slowing down daily gestures and rediscovering the balance between form, function and matter.
