Born from the experience of frequent moves and the observation of excessive furniture waste on the streets of New York City, this chair is designed to move with its transient owner; folding up in seconds to move to the next destination.
Laser-cut locally from USA-made aluminum sheet and fabricated by hand with aluminum hinges and rivets, the chair is infinitely recyclable, corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and resistant to bending.
Aidan Reinhold is an American designer and maker based in New York City. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2024, where he started his brand, FlatFlat, as his thesis project.
FlatFlat is the synthesis of Aidan’s values as a creative; efficiency, longevity, sustainability, and accessibility, as explored through the medium of furniture. In addition to independently running FlatFlat, Aidan curates and sells vintage furniture.
Aidan has shown his work at Paris Design Week, Dutch Design Week, and London Design Festival. He was also nominated in the “Furniture” category for the 2024 Isola Design Awards.
