Alessandro Verdi was born in Bergamo in 1960, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. He began exhibiting in 1983, taking part in the group exhibition Pittura Fresca n.1, curated by architect Attilio Pizzigoni, at Galleria Dossi in Bergamo. In 1985, he met Giovanni Testori, with whom he established an intense and enduring working relationship, culminating in his first solo exhibition at Galleria Compagnia del Disegno in Milan in 1987.
Among his subsequent major solo exhibitions are those held at Galerie der KVD in Dachau, Germany, and Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso in 1998; at Fondazione Mudima in Milan in 2001; at Mudimadrie Galerie Gianluca Ranzi in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2005 and 2007; at Galleria Blu in Milan in 2008 and 2013; at the 53rd International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (Collateral Event) in 2009; at Fondazione Mudima in Milan and Halle Am Wasser at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, Germany, in 2012; at MACRO in Rome and Fondazione Mudima in Milan in 2017; and at Fondazione Mudima in Milan in 2024.
