Born in Milan in 1971, he graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano under the mentorship of Flavio Caroli and began a long-standing collaboration with the Atelier Mendini. His artistic research explores the potential of dialogue between Western and Eastern iconographic traditions, standing out for the strong presence of the sign, both pictorial and calligraphic, using unconventional supports such as corten steel, copper or aluminum treated with acids and enamels.
After participating in the Suzzara Prize in 1996, he won the first prize in the 1999 Venetian competition “La Fenice et des artistes.” His first solo exhibition, Acqua sporca, luce marrone, luce, was hosted by Antonia Jannone gallery in 1999, where he returned in 2002 with Steel life. In 2003, the Poltrona Frau Space in London, in collaboration with Federico Rui Arte Contemporanea (Milan), organized an exhibition of his work. In 2004, he presented a new cycle of paintings dedicated to San Siro in a dual solo show at Antonia Jannone and Federico Rui, curated by Ada Masoero. That same year, he was invited to the XIV Quadriennale d’Arte - Anteprima Torino and was a finalist in the 5th edition of the Cairo Communication Prize. In 2007, he held solo exhibitions at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid and at the Istituto dei Ciechi in Milan. His works were included in The New Italian Art Scene, a group exhibition at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (Taiwan), and in Arte italiana 1968-2007: Pittura (Italian Art 1968–2007: Painting) at Palazzo Reale in Milan.
In 2008, he presented the solo show 8 at the Mark Wolfe gallery in San Francisco and launched the Cor-Ten project—fifty large-scale works on iron—first exhibited at the former Arsenale Borgo Dora in Turin and later at the First gallery in Rome in 2009. In 2011, he took part in La Biennale di Venezia, exhibiting in both the Italian and Cuban pavilions. In 2012, Flavio Caroli curated the retrospective Omar Galliani | Alessandro Busci – Un passaggio di generazione (centro di gravità permanente) at the MAGA Museum in Gallarate. In 2014, the Triennale di Milano dedicated a major exhibition to him titled In Alto Milano, featuring 90 works focused on the city’s new vertical development, curated by Ada Masoero. That same year, he exhibited Fuoco su Napoli at Al Blu di Prussia in Naples. In 2017, SEA invited him to present the solo show Milano Fly Zone, installed in the Soglia magica - La Porta di Milano space inside Milan Malpensa Airport, visited by over 2.5 million transit passengers. In 2021, the Forte di Bard (Aosta) hosted his exhibition BluCervino. L’Adieu des glaciers, followed by the solo shows Steel Gardens at Antonia Jannone gallery in Milan, Ragūn, musica sull’acqua, curated by Chiara Gatti, at Barbara Paci gallery in Pietrasanta (2023) and Smoking at Novalis Art Design gallery in Hong Kong (2024).
