Dual Soul: Coatl Ocelotl

Drawing on Mexican culture, Nuvó Studio created a lamp inspired by two traditional symbols: the jaguar (Ocelotl) and the snake (Coatl), animals considered sacred since ancient times. The aim is to reinterpret these elements by combining them with the essence of Italian design, to create objects with pure and essential forms that become part of everyday life.

The project is based on a minimalist approach and the use of materials that connect different traditions. Stone, an emblematic material from pre-Columbian civilisations to contemporary craftsmen, becomes the starting point to represent this hybrid cultural identity. Sterling silver (.925), with its versatility and brilliance, offers more complex possibilities for experimentation and adds elegance and vitality to objects thanks to the light it reflects. The result enhances the contrast between the brightness of the silver and the sobriety of the stone.

People need to connect with natural elements to regenerate, find peace, and rediscover who they are, where they come from, and what they are seeking. For Nuvó, humanity maintains a complex relationship with spaces and objects: people create and transform them, while at the same time being shaped by them through daily interaction. The studio is convinced that objects must carry uniqueness and meaning. Its processes are grounded in experimentation, continuous evolution, and collaboration with diverse craftsmen. Each project is the result of thorough research and conceptualisation, giving substance and soul to every piece and furniture collection. Nuvó approaches nature without the desire to dominate it, but rather to engage with it. In building this balanced relationship, experimentation becomes essential—a continuous process of trial and discovery aimed at achieving harmony between respecting and transforming nature.
