Matter Forms X Atelier WAMA - Remnants of Reflection

Remnants of Reflection explores fragmentation as a catalyst for transformation—combining proprietary material, Oyster[Crete]® with reclaimed metal to form a monumental table rooted in material memory. Spanning across a long surface, welded offcuts of metal interlock without traditional joints, embracing the raw tactility of Oyster[Crete].

Inspired by natural typologies, the work reinterprets everyday forms through unfinished contours and layered textures. Traces of erosion, sediment, and time remain visible, honouring each material’s origin while preserving its inherent character. By working directly with their physical properties, the design resists industrial uniformity, allowing every outcome to remain singular and irreproducible.

Together, Mooka Srisurayotin & Rickie Cheuk present a collection that celebrates imperfection, resilience, and the enduring aesthetic qualities of reclaimed matter—an invitation to reflect on beauty found in what is often overlooked.

Rickie Cheuk is specialised in converting scrap metal into tableware. For him, the ritual of gathering around a table, eating and sharing thoughts is particularly special, having grown up in an environment where the only time everyone could get together was late at night, at dinner. Passionate about recreating those intimate exchanges, Rickie enjoys creating limited edition tableware to preserve and help form lifelong pieces of memory.

Mooka Srisurayotin is a London-based architectural designer of Thai and Japanese descent, founder of Matter Forms, an interdisciplinary design studio established in 2023. With a material approach to spatial and architectural design, Matter Forms focuses on circularity and material innovation, creating objects and finishes that seamlessly integrate natural aesthetics into high quality design.
