ATELIER THOMAS SERRUYS (BE)

Outdoor

Resourcer bench
The bench unites fragments of material and memory. Its seat, freely cut from steel, rests on forged legs shaped like suction cups — forms that suggest the act of drawing in, reclaiming, and holding onto resources. The entire piece is galvanized, preserving surface and unifying shape, allowing diverse elements to exist as one.

Thomas Serruys is a Belgian designer based in Bruges, with a background in art, antiques, and 20th-century design sales. He founded his atelier in 2016 in Ostend, later joined Zaventem Ateliers, and now works independently in a former cotton spinnery in Bruges. His pieces combine logical simplicity and traditional craftsmanship with an experimental touch. Shapes and proportions are chosen intuitively, using materials that age well and stand the test of time. Daily life inspires his work, resulting in objects that are both functional and seamlessly integrated into everyday rhythms. Through self-study of 20th-century design, he draws from revolutionary trends and iconic works to reinterpret past ideas with a contemporary vision.
